Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR)

Service Information

EMDR is an evidence-based therapy that helps to reprocess distressing memories and negative beliefs we have about ourselves. Based on our brain’s innate plasticity (ability to re-wire) EMDR is a safe and effective therapy. Though it was originally developed to assist people who’ve experienced trauma, it is now evidenced for use with various psychological difficulties.

EMDR can be effective for both adults and children. Senior Psychotherapists Lauren and Elissa are specifically trained in the use of EMDR with children, adolescents and adults.

EMDR Resources

You can find a helpful collection of resources, including videos that explain EMDR here. EMDR is one of only two endorsed trauma treatments for children and adults from the World Health Organisation.
